![]() Bill Sholar worked in the intelligence world during most of the 1970s, ran college computer centers during most of the 1980s, and led computer projects in Saudi Arabia during most of the 1990s. He has been creating websites since 1996, about the time the Internet started to become widely available to everyone. One of his original sites, FireCalc® (a unique retirement planning calculator), has been repeatedly cited in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, and the Dallas Morning News, among many others. It is called “the best of the bunch” in Work Less, Live More: The New Way to Retire Early (Nolo Press, 2005), and is in the curriculum of several college finance courses. He has also developed custom software, starting with satellite tracking and radar signal analysis programs in the 1970s, followed by everything from artificial intelligence programs to business appraisal programs.
Bill ran a website hosting business from his floating home, then added website development after moving ashore and returning to Texas to be there when his grandchildren were born. In 2007, Bill's website, hosting, and Internet marketing company joined forces with a local competitor to form Frisco Websites. Bill is a Paul Harris Fellow. (web site) |

Bill took early retirement in 2001, and he and his wife Sue left Saudi Arabia. For the next several years, they cruised up and down the east coast on a restored wood-hulled trawler. Shown here, his boat is at anchor off Cape Canaveral, awaiting the opportunity to watch a space shuttle launch from close up.
